Concepts To Remember When Selecting A White Ceiling Fan

What to know about choosing the perfect designer flush mount white ceiling fan is that finding one that is proportionate to a rooms size is of the essence. A ceiling fan that is too large and overpowers an area of the home is not desirable, nor would one want to mount a small fan in a room that is very large. Measuring a room in which the fan will be placed gives a better idea of what size needs to be bought and is a great way to eliminate regrets.

Another important thing to think about is who will install the fan. If the homeowner is putting it up, all tools and supplies need to be readily available or purchased and on hand before beginning to mount it to the ceiling. If a contractor or friend will be doing the work, just make sure they are experienced and have done such an installation of this kind before. Tools needed are a screwdriver, extra screws, wiring tape, a sturdy ladder and a helper designated to hand tools up and to turn electricity off and back on.

When visiting a showroom of white ceiling fans or browsing them at a home and garden improvement store, it can sometimes be overwhelming with the many sizes, colors, styles and bases they are available in. Some come with a light or more than one light, while others do not have this feature at all. It must first be decided which will be needed. If a room is dark with very little natural light, one would probably want to buy a fan that comes with lighting. If there is an abundance of light in the room, it would be safe to get a fan without lighting.

The style of ceiling fan that will be mounted in a room will depend on the overall style of the room. If the room is decorated contemporary, the fan should be more of a contemporary style with long, clean lines, sleek and smooth. If a room is of a country decor, the ceiling fan chosen might have blades made of oak or some other rustic looking wood that will match well. Maybe a white fan will go in a baby’s room, which is more dainty and frilly. In this case, the fan will be light and airy with very few details to compliment the space. Simple is better in this situation and may be of less distraction if going with a white fan.

Many ceiling fans have brass or gold fixtures, brackets or bases while others are constructed of polished silver, shiny silver or titanium finishes. If light fixtures are included, some have globes that are smoked white, see through glass, ivory or antiqued. These are characteristics that should also be taken into consideration when picking the fan you will buy.

Some fans have blades of all different colors, while others are of various differentiations of wood grain. Some even come with specific characters or cartoon designs especially made for kid spaces. Although wooden style fans seem most popular, the white ceiling fan is quiet common in homes today, especially when being bought for sun rooms, nurseries, day cares and outdoor living spaces. It is also known to blend with a white ceiling quite well, making it nearly unnoticeable when walking into the room.
