Traditional upvc Sash Windows

When upvc windows first came out they were mainly sold as a discount window, just something that, although durable was just something to replace those old rotting wooden windows. The heritage of the houses that they were installed in was not a consideration at the time.

They were good sellers at the time because they were advertised as being maintenance free and secure. As time wore on many of these windows, due to the poor construction at the time, started to fade in color, and some were starting to erode, leaving the home owner with a window that did not work as it should. Some even got to the point where they would not open and close, making for an escape hazard in case of fire.

During the same time period there were other homeowners who would not think of installing plastic windows in there homes. These were the ones who took pride in living in a historically correct home, with sash window that they wanted to preserve for the historical value. A lot of homes similar to this are priced according to there historical value and its original features.

Today due to advances in the manufacture of these upvc windows they no longer have these same problems. They no longer fade out like they did before, and they will last for many years almost maintenance free. They come in many different fade free colors and finishes, including a raised grain wood finish that is hard to tell from the original wood windows. Vinyl windows also come in many different styles today, whether you are looking for a standard sash window, to maintain the traditional look of your home, or you might be looking for a casement window, or a bay window, they are all available in a long lasting, low maintenance upvc window.
