Toilet bowl parts can appear much more complicated than they actually are. The inner workings of a toilet are primarily based on gravity and suction. The toilet has continued to evolve since the sixteenth century. When learning about the toilet parts, it is necessary to understand that there are two main parts of the modern toilet. These parts are the bowl and the tank. They both hold many crucial parts.
Toilet bowl parts may vary in color or price, but there are certain expected constants. A person could always expect to see both the Tank and the Bowl. The bowl will always be the part a person sits on, and the tank will 
hold most of the toilet parts. Additionally, the flush lever will usually be responsible for the flushing action itself.
The bowl traditionally has a seat to perch on. This will be connected to the bowl, through the use of two hinges. The bowl is then connected to the Tank, either through small holes, or a section in the shape of the letter “S”.
When the flush lever is pulled, it pulls on a chain within the tank. It pulls up on the flush valve, which in modern toilets may also be called a flapper. When this air-filled item is lifted, it permits the water to leave the tank, and holds the valve away from the water flow. The flushing process ensures that the level of water in the bowl decreases.
