One of the absolute best ways to ensure that no pets ruin the garden is a motion activated water repellent. Also known as a scarecrow motion activated sprinkler system these are becoming more and more commonly used in the garden.
Pests can be a real problem. They can eat the vegetables, dig up the borders and generally wreak havoc on anything in our outdoor spaces. If we want a very humane way to deal with the problem then there is nothing better to use than a scarecrow sprinkler.
These systems are actually very inexpensive to buy and normally we will find that they are available for around the fifty dollar mark. If we do use one then setting them up is very simple. Once up and running they work in a very clever way. As soon as a Dog, Cat, or anything at all enters the range of the sprinkler, which is very large, then the sensors picks up on this and sprays water at the intruder.
This jet of water will hot the animal and will send it on its way straight away. It is the shock of the water that is the main reason why it works so effectively. It makes the animal jump and for Cats especially the fact that they have gotten wet is even more of a reason for them to stay away.
It normally only takes one or two hits with a jet of water for any animal to decide that it will now find somewhere else to go to mess up the soil and the plants. We may then find that we do not need to use it as often as we first did as the animals have gotten the message.
