Real Candle Chandelier – The Romantic Glow

There is something about candlelight that changes the entire mood of a room. A dinner by candlelight is something that we reserve for a special occasion. Candlelight adds a soft, warm illumination that somehow seems to enhance not only the appearance of the room, but our own appearance as well. Perhaps there is still something about using candles that evokes memories of our past, or even the past we have only read about, replete with drawing rooms and fine china.

If simply having candles on the table can change the look and feel of a room, then consider the dramatic effect of having your dining room lit by a Victorian chandelier. Having a chandelier would automatically amplify the effect, and it would also simultaneously add a touch of elegance and Old-World charm. If the design includes crystals, as many do, these can add to the effect with reflected and refracted light playing on the walls and table.

On the practical side, using candles saves on electricity. For example, if you have two 60-watt bulbs over the table that are on for an hour during dinner, that is equal to 120 watt hours or 0.12 kilowatt hours. Do you know how many kilowatt hours of electricity this type of chandelier uses? You guessed it – zero! So not only are you adding flair to the event, you are contributing to a “greener” world in your own small way.

Historically, the use of a branched candle holder, or candelabra, dates back to the 17th-century at least. The French influence is obvious in the translation of the term to the modern usage of real candle chandelier.

So the next time you are having a dinner party, turn your dining room in to an elegant salon with the addition of a real candle chandelier. It will not only show your good taste, it will also give your guests something to talk about, and you can impress them with your knowledge of the history of chandeliers.
