First, surface preparation is one of the most critical steps. Sweep and mop the floor thoroughly and treat any grease and oil stains. Once this is complete, you will have to etch the floor. The purpose of doing this is to create a rougher surface so that the epoxy will stick better to floor, as most garage floors are too smooth. This is a mixture that you will have to make which contains hydrochloric acid and therefore protective eyewear, clothing must be worn, and you must be sure there is proper ventilation because the substance is extremely toxic. Allow it dry thoroughly.
Using a putty knife, fill in the cracks with Quikrete Crack Seal. Be sure to remove any excess and allow it to dry thoroughly, which takes about an hour. Next, you will want to use a concrete garage paint bonding primer. Because concrete is very porous, paint has a hard time adhering to it. By using the primer, the paint will be less likely to flake off.
