If you are in the market for kitchen breakfast bar stools, you should be clear on the criteria with which you make your decision. You absolutely should not buy a bar stool simply based on its appearance. Investing in a piece of furniture is not an impulse purchase and should be treated as such.
If you bought a set of bar stools purely because they look good in your kitchen only to realize that they are impractical, then you would have unusable seats in your hands that just waste valuable floor space. At best, you create inconvenience for yourself in returning the items.
One component that is often overlooked is the height. I cannot emphasize enough on its importance. The right thing to do before running to the shops is to take measurements between the floor and your kitchen counter (or breakfast bar). The idea is to leave enough leg room below the counter but a the same time, still be high enough to comfortably reach your food.
There are a number of other features that you should decide upon before you settle on a choice. For one, you can have bar stools with or without backs. If you do want a backing, there are then different kinds of backs – there are solid backs, spindle backs and ladder backs. You can then choose between low or full length backs.
Another popular type is swivel wooden bar stools. This feature allows you to turn around 360 degrees while you are in your seat. It is useful when you want to face a different direction but the task of turning the seat itself is too inconvenient.
You will be forgiven for being overwhelmed by the choices to which you have been exposed in the bar stool market or even just the furniture market for that matter. I often get very confused and being indecisive does not help at all. But as a general rule, I find that in order to alleviate my predicament, I try to learn as much as I can from different sources. Friends and family who have gone through the process of buying a piece of furniture would be of valuable guidance.
