People tend to choose it for it’s easy to install and maintenance feature. It is also less expensive. But the system do not allows large amount of plants due to the use of wick that can support only limited amount of nutrients.
Water culture is another type of hydroponic growth system. It is simple to construct. Here instead of using any tray, a Styrofoam strip is used to place the plants on top of the reservoir and the reservoir contains hydroponic nutrients and water. This is convenient to use as the plants need not have to depend upon a medium for nutrient and the plants can draw nutrients straight from the reservoir as the Styrofoam is soaked in it. But some plants that do not grow well in lot of water are not suitable for this system, since the plants need to stay in water solution all the time in here.
