Getting A Right Hydroponic System

Among the various types of hydroponic systems the most common systems are wick, water culture and drip system. These can be made either by the individual or can be found for a price. Each of them has their own feature along with some advantages and disadvantages. If a person wants to set up a hydroponic system he or she should understand the pros and cons of a specific system and go on with it.

One of the important factors to consider is the use of materials and its quality. Use of titanium piping in the hydroponic system is considered as a durable way and does not need frequent replacement. However, PVC piping is used instead of titanium piping these days which are not so expensive, but at the same time has to be replaced frequently.

Also watch out for warranty in the system. Having warranty for longer span of time relieves you from the hassle of complications and ensures durability of the system as well.

Understanding the types will help you to select the right system that best fits your requirement. Initially we can discuss about wick system. This type contains a tray that it kept on the top of reservoir carrying water and hydroponic nutrient solution. An air stone is also kept in here to oxygenate the water. A wick is used to connect the tray and the reservoir with each other. Through the wick water solution enters into the tray and disperses it to the plants. People tend to choose it for it’s easy to install and maintenance feature. It is also less expensive. But the system do not allows large amount of plants due to the use of wick that can support only limited amount of nutrients.

Water culture is another type of hydroponic growth system. It is simple to construct. Here instead of using any tray, a Styrofoam strip is used to place the plants on top of the reservoir and the reservoir contains hydroponic nutrients and water. This is convenient to use as the plants need not have to depend upon a medium for nutrient and the plants can draw nutrients straight from the reservoir as the Styrofoam is soaked in it.  But some plants that do not grow well in lot of water are not suitable for this system, since the plants need to stay in water solution all the time in here.

To get the best result from the hydroponic system it is recommended to select a suitable type according to your plants need.  Having best materials ensures quality and better production.  It is also necessary to use best hydroponic nutrients for healthy plants.
