If you are sick of paying gym fees every single month, or maybe you just don’t want to have to drive to a gym, then I would definitely recommend setting up your own home gym. You can build your own home gym in a spare bedroom, in the garage, or even out on the porch. Every person’s house is different, so you will need to evaluate what room will be the best for you and your new home gym.
The first thing you should do when evaluating where to set up the home gym is to consider what type of home gym equipment you’ll be using. Each person’s weight loss and fitness goals are different, so those need to be taken in account. Will it be just you working out? If so, you may not really want cardio equipment, and instead fill your home gym with weight sets and other type of full weight lifting devices and weight machines. But, if your wife likes to run on a treadmill or use an elliptical machine, then you’ll definitely want to consider that when creating your gym.
You’ll want to keep in mind various accessories that you might want to have in your home gym. Some people really prefer to work out with full-wall mirrors like the gym provides, and this can be important to ensure that you are doing the various exercises properly. This would rule out the patio, and depending on the space or lack thereof in your garage, it may rule that out too. Having a spare bedroom will be best if you plan to install full-wall mirror. You may also want to consider if you workout while watching TV. Making sure that you have an outlet and proper protection for the TV is something else to consider.
Building a home gym is a great way to use that additional space in your home to help eliminate that monthly payment to the gym.
