Futon beds are popular because they are versatile and are less expensive compared to a regular bed. But in order for the futon bed to work, of course you need a futon mattress. The good news is that the manufacturing of futon mattress has come a long way in terms of quality. Also, consumers nowadays have a lot of different options to choose from.
The bad news is, even with all the technology and advancement in manufacturing processes such as Dunlop processing and Talalay latex, there are still some common problems that a person who wish to use a futon mattress needs to deal with.
1. Installing the futon mattress onto the futon bed and keeping the mattress in place. This is one of the classic problems. Most futon beds are has just a surface that inclines to turn into a sofa. And at this point when you turn your bed into a sofa, the futon mattress has the tendency to slide forward and off the sofa.
With regards to this problem, you can remedy this by getting grippers, also known as non-slip pads. They are available in most carpet stores. I suggest that you get the thin variant. You can cut them up to fit your futon bed’s surface and stick them on it.
2. Another thing that happens when you incline your bed into a sofa, especially if you have a thick mattress, is that the mattress does not completely fold and embrace the corner formed by the back support and the sitting surface. It makes the sofa, and the room, look untidy.
The solution for this problem is an adjustable strap that runs across the mattress where the fold is supposed to be. The ends of the strap connect to the base of the sofa. And you just adjust the strap to pull the mattress closely towards the corner formed by the back support and the sitting surface.
And there you go that should help you resolving some of the common problems people experience with a futon mattress.
