How To Use A Free Carpet Sample

Let’s be honest – buying and installing carpet in your home is a very expensive proposition. Because of this, you want to make sure that you get the right carpet the first time, that it will last, and that it will look good for a long period of time. And, you want to make sure that it looks good not just in the showroom but that it looks good in your home under your lighting (lighting will have a very big impact on things like carpeting and paint). In order to be able to tell how the carpet you want to purchase will look good in your home, it is highly advisable to obtain a free carpet sample.

Almost all carpet stores (both online stores and regular retail stores) will give you a carpet sample for free, allowing you to take it home and inspect how it looks and feels in your own home. This is truly a must, given how big of a financial decision that carpeting is. When you bring the carpet sample home, there are a few things that you should make sure you check, including:

1 – check how the carpeting looks under your lights. Check this in every room that you are planning on laying the carpet in, not just the main room that has tons of nice, big windows. Remember, light will affect how the carpet looks, so try it under every possible lighting situation.

2 – Check how the carpet looks on the stairs (obviously if you are not putting the carpet on your stairs then don’t worry about this one). Different carpets will react very differently to being curved around the stair, with some having a much higher propensity to show the back threading, which you probably don’t want for your stair carpeting.

3 – Check how the carpet feels. Sometimes in the show room you won’t really look at the carpet as much as you should, and taking it home will give you the time that you need.
