Getting That Closet Organized

New Year’s, new house, frustration building, all of these things can be catalysts for wanting change and organization. Many houses have that dirty little secret that we slam doors on and then lean against with a sigh. That’s right. Our closets. We all have them, scattered horrifically through the house containing clothing, cleaning supplies, mementos, and numerous other nick-knacks. It can be a struggle figuring out the best way to sort through and organizing it all. Closet organizing systems are a simple way to make the most of closet spaces. You can spend a little or a lot on one. A lot of the cost comes from the materials used. Obviously, a system made primarily from plastic and of simple construction, like from Rubbermaid, can be relatively inexpensive. However, you want something higher end, solid wood, and aesthetically pleasing be willing to part with several hundred dollars.

First of all think about the items you want to organize. Is it clothing, shoes, cleaning supplies, Christmas decorations? It may make a huge difference between how many drawers, shelves, or hanging space you need in your personalized system. Closet organizing systems are all about neatness and ease of use. Make sure you know exactly what your needs are.

If you are a do it yourself kind of homeowner you might want to get a self install closet organization system. These can be purchased a myriad of places, from Target to Home Depot. The kits will require some slight modification as each space is unique. However, none of the modifications are overly difficult or time consuming. If you are hopeless with power tools or short on time you can always find a company, or even professional organizer, who will take over the transformation of your space. These can, of course, be customized however you’d like, but obviously a tad pricier than a diy.

The bottom line is, do it yourself or a thousand dollar build, the end result is the same. A clean and organized space. Where’s your favorite pair of shoes? Why second row, third box in of course. Broom and mop? Why hanging neatly from their pegs under a row of baskets. A closet organization system is always a smart solution to a disorganized, overwhelming space.
