Choose the Right Bunk Beds for your Kids.

Do you love your kids? Of course you do. You want the best for them and making the best buying decision for them is more important than making one for yourself. In this article we will look at three surefire ways to help you make the right choice so everyone in the family is happy. Consider the size of your bedroom, get the kids involved and remember their safety, take these points into account and you should be ready to buy your bunk bed with confidence.

Measure up your space.

Bunk beds are great for saving space but you still need to be sure that your new bed fits into the bedroom you have. You can buy twin over twin, twin over full and even loft bunk beds. So, measure out the floor space and, just as importantly, measure the space from floor to ceiling. Keep the tape measure and measurements with you if you’re going to the shop or take note of the product dimensions if you’re buying online.

Let your kids contribute

The bunk bed is for your kids so let them be involved in the buying process. There are plenty of different styles out there, from white bunk beds so either take them with you to the shop or sit them down with you at the PC. Use this time to talk them through the fun games they can play and a decision on who sleeps in which bunk. Sure you want to get them excited and get their input but you also want to lay down some ground rules early on.

Safety first.

Kids love to play games in and around their bunk beds but they are not a toy. Have a good look over any new purchase and make sure it’s safe. Is it strong and sturdy and are the joints strong? Check out the thickness and quality of the slats too. Can they take constant use and abuse by kids? What about the ladder, will it be easy and safe to use? And finally check any gaps between the top safety rail and the mattress and be sure it’s not wide enough for a child to slip through during their sleep.

Buying the right bunk bed is part fun and part common sense. If you’ve done your homework and measured up your room there will be no nasty surprises. Ask the kids what they like best and you won’t disappoint, keep safety in mind and there will be no worries. Bearing all this in mind, grab the kids and get shopping!

If you have just the one child perhaps they would prefer a canopy bed, if so you can read more at the Canopy Bed Guide.
