If you have decided to decorate your bedroom in blue, you have made a good choice as it is such a peaceful, restful color and it is easy to work with. You will probably be looking for some suitable blue bedding to go with your new color scheme and you will plenty of choice in stores and on the web. Don’t just pick the first bedding you see that you like, however. Here are the things to avoid when you are buying blue bedding.
1. Too Much Blue
If you are painting your walls blue or have chosen blue wallpaper and have a blue carpet and curtains, take care that you are not creating a room which is all blue. Blue bedding on top of all that would be too much and you would be better to choose something like a white bedding ensemble or comforter with a small blue pattern, for example.
2. Too Many Blues
Most blues work well together, but if you have too many different blues in your room, it can look like a mosaic rather than a coordinated color scheme. Try and restrict the number of blues you choose within your scheme to two at the most, especially if you are mixing blue with another color. For example, if you have a red, navy and white scheme, you might get away with adding a touch of mid blue or light blue here or there in a trim or accessory but you would not want to include turquoise blue as well.
3. Too Cold
If your room is on a side of your home, which does not get much sun, try warming up your blue bedding by adding a warmer color such as yellow rather than keeping to all cool tones such as blue and white. A fresh color scheme is all very well in a sunny room in summer but it can feel decidedly frosty in a room which is always in shade, especially in winter.
